Touched

I am so touched at all the encouragement and support and sheer goodwill beaming at me from my blogging community right now – thank you!  We have come on a journey together, each of us sitting at home (or in a coffee shop) but putting ourselves out there, finding common interests or kindred spirits or both, pushing forwards, falling back but always trying to find the sweet spot of honesty without blurting, kindness without gushing, and at the bottom of it all: discernment.  Every post and every pin.

Where I come from ‘touched’ has a second meaning, one with an edge.  There has been such a whirl recently that at one point I sat down to address envelopes – I enjoy doing this by hand, with a fountain pen and my own affectation, sepia ink – and I couldn’t remember how to write.  A pot of tea, Walt Whitman and a darkened room later I was more collected, but is certainly a reminder to do more yoga.

We have been sorting and scanning our photos recently and Stefan sent me this gem: I had finished my finals, we had been dating for a week and that afternoon I left Sydney for America – we are in my parent’s garden and the blue Pacific behind us is the same that I now sit beside a world away.  Somehow it confirms that life moves so fast ~

You have the kind of beauty that endures through the years. I found your blog awhile back, googling for bolts of linen. (I sew for fun, clothes and what-nots for myself, family & friends). And then saw you on Vignette Designs yesterday and spent last night looking through your blog and website. I really enjoyed your writing. You can be so very droll :) love it!
Looking forward to your next post.

i will try so hard not to gush!
fortunate for us that you became a real person instead of
another famously beautiful actress!! because then you
wouldn’t probably have such a friendly neighborly like blog. you’d be aloof and guarding your privacy! lol!
i have been voting! here’s one more exclamation point !
bear hug to you dear heart,

I too have forgotten how to write – my pen touches the paper and a long loopy line emanates, but somehow I have forgotten how to form the letters! I put it down to too much computing. Though for sepia ink (I don’t think it an affectation – more of an inspiration) and my old Mont Blanc languishing in a drawer somewhere, I could be persuaded to try harder and oftener…
