Winter Solstice

winter solstice on our deck

Extreme tides, bright sun, lots of visitors. I watched the sun rise on the solstice from the comfort of my bed and could see it perfectly, no clouds at all, just a warm orange ball bouncing up from the hills across the bay.

I described it to a friend in Philadelphia, who groaned…. What can I say? We live in California, happy and cossetted on the San Andreas Fault. And we did spend a long time in England, where the weather over Christmas is usually nothing to write home about, unless you want to complain.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a Good Night!

I used to live in the Bay Area and remember those Christmases. I didn’t appreciate the nice weather then, but I’d be happy to have it now. Merry Christmas!
