A Quiet Week

Sort of head down and back to normal this week, which makes me dull company. I feel subdued thinking of all the lovely people we filmed last week, lung cancer survivors, how brave they are and how precious few of them. Every last one of them was an athlete, and none of them smoked. Not at all the stereotype, which of course is why we are making the film in the first place.

I am brushing up my Spanish since today I started helping women to sew at the community centre. Marked differences in aptitude… I enjoy teaching, solitude and internal absorption – maybe it is part of autumn, along with soup, mist, and the smell of woodsmoke. Sad stories of the death of kings.
