I am palpably happy today, so instead of just letting the feeling be, I am digging around. Au fond I am busy but not hectic, slept enough, had bacon and egg for breakfast – but that’s not it…

The last twenty-four hours I have had a song playing incessantly in my mind, found it now on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52_aCVBFlkE&feature=related One of the things I enjoy about sewing is that my mind is free, and often I can spend the day sewing, listening to music, watching the sky and the water through open windows, and come to the end of the day refreshed, even exhilarated. Something about this soppy song, Gene Wilder’s serene certainty, takes me right there. I’m quite certain that is it – also the absence of counter-stresses. It produces innocence in my mind.
