Shiplap! Clapboard!

Do you see the thing that looks like a stylised sea-turtle on the wonderful shiplap I found under drywall and strange random wood panelling in our sun room?!

There used to be a porthole there, and the previous people must have sprayed it gold. What could have been their intention?! I was intending to paint straight over it, but it is growing on me. I’ll let it see the light of day for a while, then decide what to do with it.

Now, should I also take the drywall (plasterboard, to some of us) from the opposite wall, which has my great big driftwood framed mirror on it? for the sake of the authentic cabin experience I probably should, but the flesh is weak, especially when it contemplates taking down the mirror, and also, trying to reassemble all that driftwood.
