Sub-tropical Wildlife!

The excitement this morning!

It is so muggy my glasses steam up even though it is still relatively early, so I had my coffee at the back among the ferns and palms, and noticed a beautiful sinuous pattern weaving in and out of the veronica, on and on…

I rolled it up like a stocking and eased it past the thorns and the netting, a snakeskin about eight feet long, still damp and pliable so I could tease it out to full length with my fingers.  I think it could be a carpet snake, I rang Angela who asked me questions like, does it have big eyes, are the scales mottled. It does have a pattern like lozenges back from its head so I doubt it would be a brown snake, dramatic as that would be.

I wonder if I can take a snakeskin back to America?
